There are many things to do in Istanbul for every type of traveler. Many of the landmarks in Istanbul are religious monuments such as the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, which means that the entrance is completely free.

But don’t be afraid to spend some money, as many paid attractions such as a Turkish Bath and Bosphorus Cruise should be added to your Istanbul itinerary.

Public transportation is affordable and easy to navigate, allowing you to travel around the city easily.

It is also important that you avoid taxis because they are known to scam passengers. And when you are shopping in the souvenir shops in Istanbul, make sure you bargain!

Budapest

Budapest highlights include the epic Parliament building, stunning Buda Castle, unique Fisherman’s Bastion, and iconic Chain Bridge.

With a generally low cost of living, visiting Sofia can be very affordable. Accommodation and food are both available at great prices, making it a great option for those on a tight budget.

The city has an excellent public transport system of trams, buses, and metro that are reliable and efficient, meaning you can get around without taking a taxi.

But when you are not exploring the outdoors, spend some time in the cultural sites of the city such as St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the National Palace of Culture!

Bucharest

The capital of Romania, Bucharest, is one of the cheapest city breaks in Europe. The majority of the attractions in Bucharest are located in its gorgeous old town, where visitors will find cobblestone streets and historical buildings.

Because of this, visitors typically don’t have to spend much on transportation. But they must get accommodation in the Old Town, otherwise, they would be far from all the tourist places.

When you are in Bucharest, don’t miss the Palace of Parliament, the world’s heaviest building. Make sure to visit the Orthodox churches and explore the city’s many parks. It has amazing nightlife too for those that like to party!

Krakow

As one of the oldest cities in Poland, Krakow is a city is full of culture, history, and gorgeous architecture.

Most of the attractions in Krakow are situated in Krakow Old Town, which means that visitors can just walk around and save money on public transportation.

There are plenty of things to do in Krakow, such as visiting Wawel Castle, exploring St. Mary’s Basilica, and enjoying the nightlife in the district of Kazimierz.

Last but not least, make sure you take a day trip to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum, the biggest concentration camp in World War II. It is one of the most historical places in Europe.

Gdansk

Gdansk is a beautiful city in the North of Poland. Located in Northern Poland and situated at the mouth of the Motlawa River, it has long been one of Europe’s most important seaports. 

The Old Town is the gem of Gdansk, which has been painstakingly rebuilt to its original glory after being heavily damaged during World War II.

There are many historical sights to see here, including St Mary’s Church which was completed in 1502 and is one of the largest brick churches in the world.

Riga
