The Best Budapest Quotes & Budapest Instagram Captions
Here are my favorite quotes about Budapest, including inspiration from poems, literature, pop culture, and quotes by famous Hungarian authors!

Budapest is a prime site for dreams: the East’s exuberant vision of the West, the West’s uneasy hallucination of the East. It is a dreamed-up city; a city almost completely faked; a city invented out of other cities, out of Paris by way of Vienna — the imitation, as Claudio Magris has it, of an imitation. –
They said that, of course, Budapest is beautiful. But it is in fact almost ludicrously beautiful. -Anthony Bourdain
Never been to Budapest, Everyday’s a Buddha fest -Styles P
My house in Budapest, My, my hidden treasure chest, Golden grand piano, My beautiful Castillo. -George Ezra
But best of all I loved the Castle Hill District of Buda. I never tired of its ancient streets. Even in those days old things attracted me more than new ones. For me the deepest truth was found only in things suffused with the lives of many generations, which hold the past as permanently as mason Kelemen’s wife buried in the high tower of Deva. –

Budapest you tore my world apart. -Pain of Salvation
There is no such place as Budapest. Perhaps you are thinking of Bucharest, and there is no such place as Bucharest, either. -Robert Benchley
At least if she died doing this she would be dying for a reason. There were a lot of ways to die in Budapest. –
Budapest I’m learning, budapest you’re burning me. -Pain of Salvation
That bloody mess in Budapest. –Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Budapest in late May is a city of lilacs. The sweet, languid, rather sleepy smell of lilacs wafts everywhere. And it is a city of lovers, many of them quite middle-aged. Walking with their arms around each other, embracing and kissing on park benches. A sensuousness very much bound up (it seems to me) with the heady ubiquitous smell of lilacs. -Joyce Carol Oates
Now they know my name in Budapest. -Charlie Wilson
I been hungry like Budapest, Tell me who the best, don’t give a f*ck I just know I’m blessed, Love life even though I’m stressed. -Logic

But if you go from Moscow to Budapest you think you are in Paris. -Gyorgy Ligeti
One thing that hasn’t changed through the years is the Hungarian affection for taking the waters — marinating in thermal baths. A tradition going back to the Romans, continued by the Ottomans, and something that survived through two wars and communism. And they do it in style. -Anthony Bourdain
Here in America, they go for the young people. But in Budapest they have a great reverence for the has-beens. –Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me

5 Things to Pack for Your Trip to Budapest

The Lonely Planet Budapest & Hungary guidebook for your trip. It can be hard to find big, international guidebooks once you land (or they’ll be way overpriced). Get yours ahead of time, either a hard copy or on a Kindle.
An Unlocked Cell Phone so that you can use a Hungarian sim card while here to help navigate public transportation and when you’re on the road.
Backup Charging Bank for your cell phone since you’ll be using it as a camera, GPS, and general travel genie.
A Camera since Budapest is super photogenic. I use a mix of my Nikon D810 and my Samsung8 smartphone these days.
A Great Day Bag so you can carry what you need with you (like your camera, snacks, water, sunscreen, cash, etc). My current favorite is the Pacsafe Citysafe, which is especially great for Budapest because it has many anti-theft features designed to deter pickpockets. It also transitions to a night bag more easily and won’t embarrass you if you go to dinner directly after sightseeing all day.

Don’t Forget About Travel Insurance!
Before you leave for Budapest make sure you have a valid Travel Insurance Policy because accidents happen on the road. I pay for World Nomads, and I happily recommend them. It’s especially important to get travel insurance if you’ll be hanging out in cities like Budapest where tourists can easily become the targets of pickpockets.
I have been a paying customer of World Nomads for travel insurance for three years, and I happily recommend them. If you get sick, injured, or have your stuff stolen, you’ll be happy to have the ability to pay for your medical bills or replace what’s stolen or broken.
